Lesson Plan Database Improved for the 2005-2006 School Year | August 16, 2005

The Youth Leadership Initiative has made exciting improvements to the lesson plan section of the YLI website. A search feature allows teachers to find lesson plans easily based on keyword, grade level, or topic. Teachers can save lessons as favorites in order to access their preferred lessons quickly. Many lessons are now available online in Spanish-language or audio format to help meet the needs of visually impaired, learning disabled, and ESL students. Among the many new plans for the 2005-2006 school year are lessons on the Supreme Court nominating process, bias in the media, and several new resources for elementary teachers. Also new is a special section of Constitution-related lessons. Learn more about what YLI is doing to help teachers prepare for Constitution Day on September 17.

In addition to the improved lesson plan database, we are gearing up for this year's YLI Internet Mock Election. In the fall of 2005, the Mock Election will focus on the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial elections, with special lesson plans available for teachers in those states.
