Printer Friendly Version

The Youth Leadership Initiative provides an exciting new way to celebrate President's Day in 2006. In partnership with The White House Project, YLI presents the "8 for '08" youth poll, which asks students to select a woman leader for whom they would vote in a 2008 presidential race. The poll will open Sunday, February 19, 2006 - just in time for President's Day.

"8 for '08" features four Republican and four Democratic women selected by The White House Project as leaders who would be qualified to serve as president of the United States. The YLI youth poll will offer photos and biographical information for each candidate. Students may vote through Friday, March 10, 2006.

Interested YLI teachers may log in at www.youthleadership.net to view and print student instructions. The youth poll follows the easy-to-use format of the YLI Mock Election, with automatic online results as well as a paper ballot option. If you have questions about the youth poll, please call YLI toll-free at 866.514.8389 or email ylihelp@virginia.edu.

The White House Project, a national, non-partisan nonprofit organization, is dedicated to advancing women's leadership across sectors, enhancing public perception of women's ability to lead, and fostering the entry of women into leadership positions, including the presidency.
