This fall, YLI will host its largest ever mock election for students! The 2008 Mock Election will feature races for President and House of Representatives as well as 11 gubernatorial and 33 U.S. Senate races. In addition, the 2008 Mock Election is updated and improved - easier for students and teachers to use. Mark your calendars now and plan to join YLI and millions of students nationwide October 20-30, 2008!

The YLI Mock Election is more than just one day of student voting! Participating teachers may access more than 70 online lesson plans on topics such as the foundations of American government, the American electoral process, candidate comparisons, and much more. All YLI materials are aligned with each state's content standards in civics and government. To view the complete list of more than 70 lesson plans, click here. In addition, teachers can request a fun mock election toolkit consisting of stickers, temporary tattoos, and beads for their students!

YLI is an ALL-YEAR, EVERY-YEAR civics education program. Participation in the Mock Election, as is true for all YLI activities, is FREE! Sign up to get started. If you have any questions, please email us at ylihelp@virginia.edu or call toll-free (866.514.8389).

The YLI Mock Election is an academic exercise. It is not a scientific survey and is not designed to predict the outcome of the general election. The views expressed are those of participating students, not those of the Youth Leadership Initiative or the UVA Center for Politics.
